Comments
The route today was up Butler Fork, Wilson Chutes, and Bonus Bowl for an exit out Millcreek. It seemed like the Wilson Chutes had run during the last big storm and wind event that followed, no slab was noted in the chutes just a few feet of non-consolidated snow on a somewhat icy bed surface. The main activity today was long running sluffs in the light density snow, visibility was tough to come by today but we noted sluffs running up to 500ft in steeper continuous terrain. These sluffs are easily managed with ski cuts, but if you were in steep rock extreme terrain you might wanna keep a eye on what's building up behind you. The weak snow at the bottom of the pack is still there, dormant for now but I'm not putting it to bed like others, structure always trumps tracks on a slope. We did a propagation saw test, PST on a steep E-NE facing slope that had not slid, and you can still see the faceted layer at the bottom and the collapse was about 10 inches in when it collapsed at the facet interface. For now we are enjoying low hazard and great skiing, we will see what the next storm brings, I'm thinking we need at least 3 inches of water and allot of wind to reactivate the PWL
photos: long running sluffs in the chutes, and a video of the PST that we did, never done one before and it was cool to see the resulting failure.

Video
Photos of the snowpack in Wilson Chutes. First one shows the old crown face behind the pit. The second one shows the layers. The faceted snow was Fist hardness and is obvious in the photo.
Location - E-facing @ 9,900 feet
We did an ECT and nothing broke much less fractured across the column - ECTX. However, the snow underneath is weak and crumbled under the shovel as we were swinging from the shoulder with hard taps.

Low level clouds remained in place today but mid and upper level clouds thinned and provided dramatic views.
